Sigma Homes Group are one of the first SME developers to be accepted onto the New Homes Quality Board

3 minute read

Sigma Homes Group is delighted to announce that we have become one of the first SME developers to be accepted onto the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB).

The NHQB is an independent not-for-profit body which was established for the purpose of developing a new framework to oversee reforms in the build quality of new homes and the customer service provided by developers. And to be accepted requires undergoing a rigorous training and application process.

Over the next twelve months, all developers will be expected to register with the NHQB and comply with the requirements of the new code and the remit. We’re proud to be one of the first smaller developers to be acknowledged as ready to be part of the new scheme.

The new code has crucially been developed to address the most significant gap in the existing arrangements, the New Homes Quality Code requires builders to have an effective aftercare service in place to deal with any issues or ‘snagging’ problems customers have with their new home. Together with a robust complaints process that responds to customers' concerns in a timely manner and to their satisfaction, keeping them informed throughout. If a customer is not satisfied with how any complaint they have made has been dealt with, they can refer their complaint to the independent New Homes Ombudsman Service, which replaces the existing Code.

This also means a more stringent reservation process and better protection for the buyer during what can be a very daunting time, particularly when buying off plan. “Sigma want to remain at the forefront of progress and improvement within the industry and make it our purpose to make the customer experience as good as it can be”.

Going forward, all our new sites will be under the NHQB code, the first being our Mayflower Meadow development in Angmering, where reservations are currently being taken and Stamp Duty Paid is being offered on our first phase, (T&C’s apply).
